Andrew Biernat is entrepreneur/business owner, insurance and risk management consultant, speaker and business association leader.
Having started his first business, a manufacturer supplier, at the tender age of 16 and having sold his last enterprise, Meridian Group of New York, Inc. to the sixth largest publicly traded insurance intermediary in the world in 2010, Biernat’s career has centered around building business organizations that help others achieve growth and success in their operations.
Currently, Biernat serves as Vice President/Strategic Business Advisor for Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy, a 117 year old insurance-risk management agency, where he works with organizations throughout the United States helping to identify, categorize, prioritize risks and opportunities for growth. Additionally, he builds and helps execute strategic business plans for clients. A large part of his time is spent working with business associations and helping them develop meaningful membership value and programming to attract and retain members.
Biernat is a strong supporter of the American Red Cross where he has served six years as Chapter Vice Chairman, and Chairman of Financial Development and board member for the American Red Cross of Utica.
Currently, Biernat serves on the board of directors for GPO Federal Credit Union, the Utica Zoo and the New York State Association of Health Underwriters where he has served as President and is a member of the board of directors. He also serves as Membership and Media Chairman.
Biernat also serves as the Chairman of the Employer Working Group for the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP) in Washington D.C. and also serves as Chairman of the Legislative Committee representing Region One. Biernat also serves on the Group of 100 advisory council for BIG I New York.
Biernat has been honored to receive awards and distinctions in his career; most notably, the New York State Association of Health Underwriters - Distinguished Service Award (twice), National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP) Leading Producers Round Table, American Red Cross - Outstanding Financial Development, Greater Central New York AHU - Chapter Formation Award, CDPHP Healthcare - Broker Advisory Member, MVP Healthcare - Broker Advisory Member, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield – Broker Advisory Member, Brown & Brown Tangle B Club, among many others.
Biernat lives in New Hartford, New York with his wife Marlene and daughters Claudia & Anita.
