Misty is an Affordable Care Act compliance and agent advocate, specializing in ACA, ERISA, FMLA, COBRA and legislative advocacy for more than 20 years. She was a registered lobbyist in Texas for 4 years. She is a strategic leader focused on compliance, agent knowledge, legislative advocacy, and ultimate client understanding of how to be successful in the changing world of compliance. Her passion incudes agent education, insurance advocacy inside and outside of the Capital and compliance.
Misty was Awarded one of the most influential women in employee benefit advising, by Employee Benefit Advisor 2015. She is a Member of National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP) 1999-present where she is currently serving on the NABIP Legislative team for 2022-2023 as the Legislative Chair. She served in the local, state, and national leadership and advisory programs, awarded with more than 10 awards for legislative efforts, agent advocacy and leadership. Misty served as health insurance advisor on the Independent Insurance Agents of America (Big “I”), 2013-2015.
Misty is currently working at Benefitmall as the Director of Compliance and Government Affairs where she focuses on compliance, regulations and takes pride in listening to and helping agents. She is passionate about delivering real world and easy to understand solutions for clients and brokers concerns in this ever-changing health insurance market.
Misty is the happiest bride on the planet, marrying David Grafe in April 2018 and now has four very entertaining “kids”: Connor 25, Austin 25, Lindsay 24 and Alec 21. She loves to watch wheel of fortune with David, garden, cook, travel, love on her dogs: Jack & Sadie and create memories with her friends & family.
