Description: Level-funded health plans look like health insurance but are, in fact, self-funded plans. With level-funded, an employer pays the same monthly amount (which looks like a premium) to cover the estimated cost for expected or maximum claims, stop-loss insurance premium to cap claims exposure at a set dollar amount and administration costs. However, there are many differences from traditional group health insurance.
