Description: Level-funded health plans look like health insurance but are, in fact, self-funded plans. With level-funded, an employer pays the same monthly amount (which looks like a premium) to cover the estimated cost for expected or maximum claims, stop-loss insurance premium to cap claims exposure at a set dollar amount and administration costs. However, there are many differences from traditional group health insurance.

This live virtual course instructed by David Smith, senior vice president of eBen, will help agents better understand level-funded quotes and the approach of different markets. Agents will undoubtedly be better prepared to educate clients on the differences with health insurance plans and highlight the compliance risk areas that most employers and agents never know to look out for until it’s too late. Developed originally through the NABIP Legislative Council’s Employer Working Group, this Level-Funded Health Plans course will provide the essential tools needed to protect your business and your client with these products.

Tools to walk away with:

  • Comparisons of fully insured vs. traditional self-funded
  • Understanding costs
  • Post-plan year liability
  • Leftover claim funds
  • Reporting
  • Compliance issues unique to level-funded
  • Level-funded worksheets – analysis, claim funding, review list and disclosure forms

Continuing Education Credits: The Live Virtual Level-Funded Health Plans course has been filed for 2 continuing education credits in all 50 states. Please check your state’s CE approval status (coming soon) and rules prior to purchasing the course.
