NAHU Submits Written Testimony to Senate Committee on Medicare for All
The Senate Budget Committee held a hearing on “Medicare for All: Protecting Health, Saving Lives, Saving Money." In our testimony submitted to the Budget Committee, we emphasized the importance of our members in the healthcare industry and the vital role agents and brokers play for employers, individuals, and the Medicare-eligible population. We also emphasized that any proposals aimed at increasing Americans’ access to affordable health coverage cannot jeopardize the employer-sponsored market or the Medicare program as they are currently structured.
Medicare for All, as we pointed out in our testimony, would result in untenable costs for taxpayers, significant healthcare workforce shortages and hospital closures, and would eliminate approximately 1.8 million jobs nationwide.
