We have all heard the saying “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”.  A better way to say it is “who you know is as important as what you know.” One of the many benefits of being a member of NABIP is the networking possibilities. Networking is an essential part of your career, as you are able to build relationships with other professionals who you might not otherwise have met.

“You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” ~Dale Carnegie

Many members state that they joined NABIP and remain a member because of the networking opportunities that exist. There are two national meetings – Capitol Conference in Washington DC (held in February/March) and the Annual Convention and Exhibition (held in June/July). NABIP's more than 200 chapters also hold state and local meetings each month. Besides interaction with other insurance professionals, attendees can learn about different products and markets, best practices, and sales strategies. At Capitol Conference, attendees spend two days lobbying their congressional offices to discuss health care and health insurance, as well as attending educational breakout sessions pertinent to their market. At the Annual Convention, attendees meet with more than 100 vendors, attend professional development sessions, and vote on association business.

One of the newest NABIP events is our virtual Power Hour.  This monthly virtual gathering is designed to directly introduce you to your peers across the country.  It is fast-paced and fun and is quickly becoming one of our most popular events.

NABIP’s Broker to Broker (B2B) has long been one of our most popular member benefits.  The ability to exchange information and ideas through our multiple dedicated discussion communities by your specific interest area is incredibly valuable for many NABIP members.  To make it even better, we have recently enhanced the system with an information portal and links to tools and information on the discussion topic.  This ability to converse with your peers and access information in your interest area all in once place is designed to help you excel in your profession.

Regardless of what position you hold or the responsibilities you have, networking is a key component of your success. Not only will you foster relationships that matter, you will also expand your knowledge, learn from the success of others, and get new clients. Many NABIP members have forged strong friendships with other members that began by networking.  A strong and active network has advantages that can make your business grow and flourish.

Membership with NABIP is one of the most important and valuable commodities available in our industry. Networking with other professionals is a key aspect of your profession and one of the most important elements of membership. Attending NABIP in-person or virtual meetings is a valuable part of membership and is essential to stay up-to-date about products, sales opportunities and industry activities!

If you are not a member of NABIP, why not?  It is one of the best investments you can make in your career!
