Val is a seasoned insurance professional who commenced her career in 1989 as executive administrator to the CEO of a regional health plan. In 2002, upon transitioning to a sales role, she simultaneously joined the National Association of Insurance Professionals (NABIP) as a volunteer leader and has served consecutively for 23 years. Her NABIP journey encompasses committee work and executive board member through presidency at two local Michigan chapters, and ultimately her appointment as state president. Val has also served as the national LPRT chair and a member of the national DEIB Committee. During the most recent four years, she served on the national Membership Council. In 2024, she was honored to receive NABIP’s Distinguished Service Award. After a brief tenure as an independent agent and executive vice president of a managing agency, Val transitioned to a start-up as vice president of sales and currently holds the position of vice president of community outreach & engagement at HealthBridge, a financial solution that cares for patients and providers. She resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with her husband, Jerry, and their five children and three grandchildren. Val finds joy in bird watching and snow skiing.
