Robert C. Tretter, CLU, ChFC, RHU, is the vice president of marketing and recruitment at the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP). He has also held positions with Ameritas Life, where he ran the Guaranteed Standard Issue (Disability Income) department; Berkshire Life, where he ran the Disability Income operations; Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, Monarch Life, and Prudential, where he started his insurance career as an agent in 1980.
Bob has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, and a Masters of Business Administration degree in Finance, from Loyola University of Chicago. He has taught numerous courses in disability income, and has spoken at many association meetings, covering topics from managed care to volunteer leadership. Bob is a past president of NABIP, where he has also served as president, president-elect, first vice president and second vice president. He coordinated the national convention for NABIP in 1996, 1997, and 1999 through 2017. Bob was also the president of the Disability Income Training Council from 1993-1995, and was the chair of the Disability Income Advisory Group from 2006-2008. His articles have been featured in Health Insurance Underwriter, Broker World, Life Insurance Selling, and Life and Health Insurance Sales.
In 2004, Bob and another NABIP past president, Bynum Tuttle, published a book entitled “Leadership in Volunteer Groups,” which is very applicable for any volunteer organization, including NABIP.
In June 2005 Bob was honored as the Harold R. Gordon Memorial Award winner by NABIP.
Bob and his wife Barbara live in Hamilton, Ohio, along with two grandsons, Colt and Osiris, which is keeping him in shape.
