Although a number of states have explored the idea of a publicly-funded Long-Term Care (LTC) benefit, the state of Washington was the first to take definitive action. Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) signed the LTC Trust Act effective July 28, 2019. Following amendments from the state legislature, Governor Inslee signed the final iteration of the program into law on April 21, 2021.
