The $1.4 trillion Consolidated Appropriations Act that passed at the end of 2020 included provisions regarding the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, establishing new compliance requirements. However, health insurance carriers and employer group plan sponsors have struggled with adequate compliance in this area since 2008.
